Confessions of a Fabric Addict Sarah gives us our sewing assignment for Santa’s Trip Around the World quilt and also shows some great decorating and gift ideas that you could make for someone on your list. Are you sewing along? I’ll show my pics soon.

Swimming in a Sea of Estrogen Amy won’t be burning her fingers this year when she pulls hot bowls out of the microwave. If you’ve been wanting to make yourself or someone on your Christmas list some microwave bowl cozies or if you have no idea what these are, you’ll want to hop right on over to her blog to see how really easy and fast these are to stitch.

Everyone Deserves a Quilt  Do you set up a Christmas tree? Joanne’s got you covered if you do. Well, your tree that is. She has a tutorial for a tree skirt that looks mighty festive. You might want to check it out.

Cheryl’s Teapots2Quilting  If you haven’t found anything to make for those on your list yet, don’t worry, Cheryl’s posting lots of ideas with more to follow. She’s also giving away three mini kits so  you might like to leave a comment on her blog if you want to win one and really get a jump on  your holiday making.

Remember to leave comments on each of their posts so you can qualify to win some fabric giveaways of Tula Pink’s new holiday line, Holiday Homies, generously donated by Free Spirit Fabrics!!! You have until July 26th to comment on each blog.

What I Learned Today:

  1. There’s no place like home. Even my junk doesn’t want to leave. (I’m cleaning out my storage room and garage.)
  2. It’s hard to let go of things I’ve had for many years.
  3. I’m very sentimental.

Question: What do you make/bake for Christmas goodies? I used to make lots of different kinds of cookies and candy which is one of the reasons I am once again on a mission to lose weight. Now, I’m lucky if I get our Traditional Painted Cookies, Reindeer Cookies, and maybe some gingerbread men made for the grandkids.

Thanks for stopping by and do come again.

I have a hard time letting go of my “stuff” too-sometimes, though, I don’t know why I bought it! As for baking at Christmas-mince meat pies & peanut brittle! (the brittle makes great little “quick” gifts for neighbors & friends) Thank you, Susan!

I have all the recipes from my grandmother and my mom, so I could bake up a storm. However, I usually make Swedish Tea Ring, Spritz cookies, PB Temptation cookies (the ones with the mini Reeses cup in them), and Cranberry Punch.

I have always baked too much for Xmas and finally over the years have slowed down on it. I make a Christmas coffee cake that I have always made on Xmas Eve only the large version has gotten cut in half and now smaller. I like a cookie called Viennese Sugar Twist (kind of like the taste of sugar cookies but with ground almonds in them) I like ginger cookies and DD likes jam filled cookies that are rolled in walnuts. Hubby like plain old chocolate chip cookies so a batch of those are made. I have always made too many cookies and the last 5 years or so have finally forced myself to slow down on them and try to keep it to 5 varieties or less.

Thank you for these daily reminders of the Christmas in July Blog Hop. Every day after I’ve read your reminder, I think I’ll remember tomorrow. Ha! without your reminder, I’d forget.

Ditto, ditto, ditto, on numbers 1, 2 and 3 above! I make fewer Christmas cookies now, too, since there are fewer people around to eat them, therefore I’m going to end up eating them! But our one standard is peanut butter blossoms, preferably made with the stars (not kisses). Our second go-to is Santa’s Whiskers. They’re enough different from the peanut butter blossoms to add variety.

We stopped baking Christmas goodies years ago. Too much money, work and trouble. Now I just make a few quilted gifts throughout the year and I’m ready for the holidays

I could make 100 different kinds of cookies! But, alas, then someone would have to eat them. Some years I make many, some years, just a few, but always, always, peanut blossoms. Usually a double batch. I tuck a slice of bread in each container to keep the cookies fresh.

I attempt a Christmas Cake each year and each year it turns into a crumbly mess. I don’t think it would feel like Christmas if it turned out perfectly lol. Thanks for being part of the 12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop.

Love the child’s Christmas wreath-clever using canning jar lids-I sill have wreaths like this made by my children, from a very long time ago, made on plastic rings! I always make peanut brittle-made in the microwave-a quick gift for a friend, neighbor, etc. & always appreciated! Thank you for sharing, Susan

I think my granddaughter would like to make the wreath. Last year she asked for a Christmas tree of her very own so I let her decorate mine any way she wanted. For the parts of the tree too high for her to reach, she gave me the ornament and told me where to hang it. After she was done my daughter told me she was going to rearrange the ornaments so the tree looked more balanced. I reminded her that when she was little she did the same thing and she was not going to change a thing. Thank you for the tutorials.

My family loves my cheesecake so I often make one. I only make Christmas cookies because it’s a special sharing time with my granddaughter. We sure don’t need them but my son does love cream cheese spritz cookies.

Still making cookies. I make a plate full of different kinds and have learned to give them away! Most to my grown kids.

Love the stocking. I make saffron buns every year for Christmas. I learned how to make them from my grandma. She made them every year for Christmas. She always putblack walnuts & golden raisins in them. The saffron made the buns yellow.
