Tu-Na Quilts: Starting Tomorrow-30 Blocks in 30 Days

Starting April 1st, no foolin’, you can find these fellow bloggers/designers showcasing a project they’ve made using one of Carla’s (Creatin in the Sticks) 30 Blocks in 30 Days designs from December.

You are welcome to quilt along. These 10″ finished blocks can be combined to make a unique sampler quilt or use just one or two of your favorite blocks to make the entire top. Check out Carla’s post here for fabric requirements. Of course, these would look great in a scrappy version using your stash.

Carla has already presented her take on each of her block designs (it’s already available in the Block column below). On the respective day, look for each designer to present theirs. I’ll be back on the 26th to show what I’ve done. But I thought you might like to follow along from the beginning.

What I Learned Today:

  1. Carla will post a giveaway on her blog on April 1st. If you don’t enter, you have no chance of winning that fabulous Tula Pink fabric which she showed on her post here.
  2. Springtime has arrived in the desert. The cacti are blooming.

This beautiful cactus is about 4 blocks away from my house. It’s been well-photographed. I also saw it the day after I took this pic when all the blooms were open but, unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera. You will just have to imagine the magnificent splendor of these delicate, butter yellow blooms enveloping the entire top of this prickly wonder.

Question: How do you celebrate April Fool’s Day? When the kids were young, I would let them have dessert first and the meal last on April Fool’s Day; they loved it. The kids usually surprised me more than once when I turned on the kitchen faucet and was blasted in the face with water from the sprayer. I never bothered to check the control first and never saw the rubber bands holding down the handle. Many buckets were filled with shredded paper and perched on partially opened doors which would eventually end up on the heads of unsuspecting family members or on the floor. I could go on and on. Maybe Tu-Na Helper will leave a comment with what the kids would do for him. It was hilarious—each time.

Thanks for stopping by and do come again.

I do remember getting ready for work after my shower and finding that my underwear had been sewn together so that when you pulled out the top pair in the drawer the next pair would come out too, and the next, and the next… until the whole drawer was empty. I remember this well as I was running late for work and was rather furious at the time. Now it’s just hilarious! The kids got me on this one at least twice. I suspect that Tu-Na may have had a hand in this too. Hmmm, tomorrow is April Fool’s day (and Easter), I may have to set up my own prank on Tu-Na. Don’t tell her…..

    Hi Karen,
I have to chuckle at Tu-Na Helper’s April Fool’s prank that was played on him. That is just SO funny! HAHA! I pulled off a few good pranks over the years but haven’t in ages. Those memories do make me smile though. That cactus is just gorgeous. I have never seen the cacti blooming in person, and I guess never any good photos either. WOWEE! Thank you so much for sharing that today! ~smile~ Roseanne
