I woke up early this morning. After this busy week of visiting 6 sewing/quilting rooms, many committee meetings, a full-day of sewing with my quilting group, a quilting group meeting, and fabric shopping at an incognito shop; that is a feat in itself!
Upon checking my email, I noticed a lot of new comments for my table topper that I posted about here.
Then I saw that I had made the Friday Spotlight on the SewCanShe Blog. This is exiting! It’s the first time for me. You can find Caroline’s post on the SewCanShe blog here. (Update: The pattern is Less Than Traditional, Flowers and More Flowers Book #3, Fun Projects by Charlie, from Quilters Haven. You can find the info here. Be sure to order the Starter Set, too).
What I Learned Today:
- Getting up early makes for a very long day; a nap will be in my future.
- My quilting group has been playing around with slogans for our fundraising campaign. So far we’ve come up with Fiber Arts Fun: Learn Something New Every Day, and Fiber Arts: United We Create (fits nicely since the quilting and knitting groups will come together on this project). What do you think? Which one do you like? Do you have other ideas? You can read more about this venture here.
- Tu-Na Helper has a sense of humor. He says that my blog is overheating.
- It’s going to be a warm day today; it’s already 75° and not even 10AM yet. I love it.
- There is a reason this place I live in is called the desert. We didn’t get the winter rains so we’re now in a drought and it’s starting to heat up. By Tuesday, the high will be 98°.
- No, I will not be heading to my summer home yet. It’s still snowing and cold there.
Question: Have you been featured on the Friday Spotlight on SewCanShe? If so put your link to your featured project in the comments.
Thanks for stopping by and do come again.

Hi Karen,
I can see why you’re featured – it is a great table topper. And your first yo-yo turned out especially well. The only thing missing is bric-a-brac. I agree with Tracy on the name, mostly because of the sewing and knitting skills are coming together. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hey Karen!! Congrats on your feature of the cute table topper!! How fun and well deserved! I really like both of the names your group came up with! The “United We Create” strikes a chord for sure though!!
And as far as your hot temps, my mantra is that I would prefer to be too hot than too cold!!! You are smart to stay put!!!:)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Love the mornings in Arizona this time of year so getting up early does make for a long day! United we Create is a great Slogan for your community….I have found the same materials you made your table topper in my stash so I will be creating something similar in the future for my table!

Congrats Karen! That table topper deserves to be in the spotlight! Snow and cold – ya my mum sent me pics from Edmonton, a bit north of your summer home, where there is also a ton of snow and cold…glad to be FROM there. We had flurries yesterday and today, but nothing stuck. However it’s raining now and I wouldn’t be surprised if, with these ridiculous below normal temps, (struggling to hit 40) that they change to snow and it DOES stick…ugh!

Congratulations, Karen! I follow that blog and it was a nice surprise to see you were featured on it. That was well-deserved. The table topper is so cute. Here in the Twin Cities the temp. was only in the low 20s today, and we are supposed to get more snow on Sun. and Mon. Stay where you are as long as you can!

Congrats Karen! Your table topper is so dang cute, it’s no mystery why it was featured! I agree with the others ‘United We Create’ has a great ring to it and sounds inviting. Could you send some of those warm temps this way? Right now it’s 28 degrees and blowing snow. My question is, where the heck is spring???? 🙂

the extremes of temperature you have are way beyond comprehension, we tend to have just mostly rain, and more rain between the odd spells of sun. I think the learn something new every day is great. It should apply to all walks of life.
