Tu-Na Travels: And A Happy New Year–North Dakota Style

“Closed for the Season”

Yes, we are now back in North Dakota for a short visit; it seemed like a good idea when we booked our tickets in July. We are in the midst of another North Dakota blizzard which started on Christmas Day and will continue into Monday. Many of the roads are closed now so we’ll be spending lots of time together. Good thing I stocked up with lots of food before the snow started. The fun will continue another day or two with games including prizes.

Thank you so very much for all the warm Christmas greetings and other comments you’ve left for me. I’ve enjoyed reading them all and will be able to respond to them soon.

What I Learned Today:

  1. Sixteen people sure eat a lot! It’s good that my mom taught me to cook in quantity.
  2. Giving out food assignments to my kids also helps lighten the work load.
  3. Going from 78 degrees to 7 degrees in 2 1/2 hours was a shock to my system.
  4. Thunder and lightening can occur even during a snowstorm.

Question: Who did you share Christmas Day with?

I am from Grand Forks,ND and I took the train out to Seattle,WA to spend the holidays with my daughter, son-n- law, 3 grandchildren, his parents and my ex-husband and his wife. It is also my grandchildrens birthdays in December each 4 days apart!!! We had a wonderful Christmas and I feel so blessed.

I grew up in the north but live in Arkansas for the last close to 40 years now – DD moved to Wisconsin close to 10 years ago – we went there for Christmas one time since they moved there – going from the 45 degrees here to what was at that time one of their coldest winters with a high of 5 degrees the whole time we were there was enough for me – we have not gone back in the winter time since then!! you are very brave šŸ™‚

I wondered if you were in the middle of the NDak blizzard (how could you not be, given the size of the storm?). Glad you have enough food, and fun people to wait out the storm with!

We spent Christmas Day on the farm you grew on! We enjoyed supper with your brother (Papa to our kids) and my brother in law’s family. Afternsupper we enjoyed a pajama party and watched the movie: Heaven is for Real. Even though we missed Christmas with my family in South Dakota, we had a great Christmas Day!
